600 recovered stolen phones to be returned to owners in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, August 14: On this Independence Day, many people in Jamshedpur and surrounding areas will have a reason to smile as the police have successfully recovered 600 stolen and lost mobile phones over the past year. These phones, which were retrieved not only from Jamshedpur but also from Chaibasa, Seraikela, Ranchi, and various locations in West Bengal, Bihar, Odisha, Delhi, and Chennai, will be distributed en masse at the Sakchi Tagore Society Auditorium on Wednesday. The police have been contacting the rightful owners to inform them about the recovery of their phones.

Among the recovered phones, Bistupur police station has achieved the highest number, with 60 mobiles recovered. Sakchi police station followed with 42 recoveries, and Parsudih police station with 34. Additionally, police stations in rural areas like Dumariya and Maubhandar have successfully recovered recently stolen mobiles, including all seven theft cases reported at Dumariya police station.

In the last two and a quarter years, the district police have distributed a total of 1,788 stolen and lost mobile phones. Citizens had reported their stolen mobiles online through a dedicated helpline. The 600 phones recovered this year will be handed back to their owners during the upcoming event. The police stations that have shown exemplary performance in recovering stolen mobiles will also be honored.

To streamline the process of reporting stolen or lost mobiles, the Central Government has launched a website, www.ceir.gov.in, where complainants can receive immediate updates about the recovery of their devices. The Sakchi Tagore Society Auditorium will serve as the venue for this significant event, where the recovered phones will be returned to their owners.
