Jharkhand:  No respite from soaring heat in next few days

Ranchi, April 17: Many parts of Jharkhand, including the capital Ranchi, faced hot weather on Tuesday due to rise in temperature.

People were restless in Santhal, Kolhan and Palamu region in the state due to sizzling temperature.

The temperature is expected to rise further in the coming days. On Tuesday, maximum heat was felt in Seraikela Kharsanwa. The maximum temperature here reached 43.7 degrees on Tuesday, while the temperature in eight cities in the state including Godda crossed 40.0 degrees. Heat will persist in the state for the next four days. The temperature may increase further.

According to the Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature increased by one to two degrees during the last 24 hours. Godda remained the second hottest district in the state. The maximum temperature here was recorded at 42.7 degrees. Whereas the temperature in Deoghar, Jamshedpur, Garhwa, Medininagar, Jamtara, Pakur etc. remained more than 40 degrees.

According to meteorologists, a trough is extending from a cyclonic circulation over eastern Uttar Pradesh to the southern part of Chhattisgarh. It is weak. There is a possibility of weather change after April 20. However, this may provide relief for a few days.

Ranchi Meteorological department scientist Abhishek Anand said, the weather will remain clear in the state for the next four days. The heat may increase further during this period. The temperature in Ranchi can reach close to 40.
