Jharkhand Lockdown: Schools in Jamshedpur to open only for class nine and above, shops to down shutters at 8 pm

All schools, colleges to open in 17 districts, sports activities to resume sans spectators

Ranchi, January 31: Schools and colleges in districts having negligible Covid caseloads will start functioning from primary level till higher classes from  February 1. 
In a meeting of the state disaster management authority chaired by chief minister Hemant Soren on Monday, it was decided that all schools (including primary level) and colleges in 17 districts in the state will open from tomorrow as before.
 “At the same time, it was decided to conduct classes from nine and above in seven districts having sizeable number of Covid caseload.  It is to be known that in view of the serious situation of Corona in the state, all the schools and colleges were closed and online classes were going on since January. 
However, with the recent decrease in the active caseload of Covid infection with recoveries far outnumbering Covid positive cases the government had cautiously decided to extend relaxations. 

According to state disaster management minister Banna Gupta who was present in the meeting, all colleges have been ordered to open while classes between one and 12 will be opened only in 17 districts while in seven districts of Ranchi, East Singhbhum, Bokaro, Simdega, Chatra, Deoghar and Seraikela- Kharsawan school will conduct classes on offline mode between class nine and 12 only. 
In other relaxations,  200 people will be able to attend the wedding and social functions instead of earlier 100. All sports activities will start, matches can be held without spectators and all coaching centres will open too. 
Anganbari centres, gymnasium will also open. 
However, shops will continue to down shutters after 8 pm. 

 Schools and colleges were closed due to the outbreak of the third wave Omicron variant of Corona. Also, orders were given to open the shop only till 8 pm in January. 

Along with this, an order was issued to open offices in government and private offices with 50 percent strength. The current restrictions issued by the state government were in force till January 31. But seeing the reduction in the cases of Covid the governemnt has given relief from many restrictions. 
Minister Banna Gupta said that as soon as Chief Secretary Sukhdev Singh issues the notification, this order will be implemented.
