Jhargram, Oct 25: Jhargram district, famed for its lush greenery and vibrant heritage, received Italian diplomat Daniel Panfilo on Friday in a visit that highlighted the region’s growing appeal as an international tourism hub. After exploring Bishnupur and Shantiniketan, Panfilo immersed himself in Jhargram’s traditions, cuisine and historical landmarks, underscoring its potential to attract visitors from Italy and beyond.
Hosted at the historic Jhargram Palace, the diplomat was warmly welcomed by the royal family and local dignitaries. He attended the grand Kali Puja fireworks festival, experiencing the district’s cultural vibrancy firsthand. Panfilo interacted with Shivendra Vijay Malladev, Vikramaditya Malladev, Forest Minister Birbaha Hansda and District Council Chairman Chinmay Marandi, offering insights to boost global tourism.
Enthralled by the region’s culinary richness, he sampled traditional dishes and praised the diversity of Jhargram’s food culture. His visit has kindled optimism about positioning Jhargram as a global destination. Authorities are now exploring infrastructure improvements and targeted campaigns to promote its cultural festivals, natural beauty and heritage sites internationally. Panfilo later departed for Bishnupur to explore the famed terracotta temples of the Malla kings.
