Jharkhand: International stadium to be completed soon at Hockey cradle Simdega

Construction of hockey and football stadium at Chaibasa soon

Ranchi, April 6: Chief minister Hemant Soren focus on improving sports infrastructure in smaller districts which have produced international sportsperson is bearing fruit.

The international hockey stadium, foundation stone was laid by the Chief Minister on October 20, 2021 at Simdega, the hockey nursery, has now started coming into its grand form with 80 percent of the construction of the said stadium complete.

The stadium situated right next to the Astroturf ground has been completed. Soon the players here will show their skills on the astroturf built on the international standard of blue and green colors. Preparations for installing flood lights in the stadium have been completed. The construction of basketball and volleyball courts in the stadium is also in progress.

Hemant Soren had laid the foundation of a proposed International Hockey Stadium here in Simdega district being built at an estimated cost of Rs 14 crore.

While laying foundation on the sidelines of the 11th junior national women hockey championship in Simdega, Soren had said his government was committed to the promotion of sports and sportspersons and providing direct appointment to players earning laurel for the state and country and International Hockey stadium  would help in sports promotion.

 “We are determined to provide excellent resources to the players especially Hockey in Simdega and the foundation stone for the construction of an international level hockey stadium is part of this effort,” Soren had said.

The stadium is being built keeping in mind all the international standards. In its pavilion building, changing rooms for players, gym, room for doctors and coaches, huge podium near the stadium are also being constructed. Hostels for male and female players with 50 beds are being constructed in the stadium premises.

According to the Sports Department, the stadium is being built keeping in mind all the international standards. There will be a seating arrangement for three thousand spectators in the stadium with modern facilities.

On the same lines, construction of Hockey Stadium and Sports Hostel in Khunti, about 70 percent work has been completed.

Soon the construction of the proposed football and hockey stadium in Chaibasa will also start.
