Panchayat elections in Chandil in first phase, focus on security 

Seraikela: Under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Arva Rajkamal, a meeting was organised with all the concerned departments regarding the successful implementation of the upcoming Panchayat elections in the auditorium of the District Collectorate. Giving information on this occasion, the Deputy Commissioner said that Panchayat elections can be started anytime in the coming days.

During this, he said that in the first 1-2 weeks, there will be campaigning related to the election and after that the nomination will be done. Apart from this, he inquired about the status of all the ballot boxes located in the district. He said that there are a total 17 seats in the district, if the block is bigger than two seats. He said that the elections would be conducted in two phases.

In the first phase, elections will be held in Chandil subdivision and in the second phase in Seraikela subdivision. Thereafter the counting will take place only after the election. In which election counting and strong room will be constructed in the sub-division level itself. The Deputy Commissioner said that controlling Naxal activity is an important responsibility. Along with this, the preparation of the security force should be completed.

There are a total 132 panchayats in the district. Special preparations have to be made for the Naxal-affected area. During this, while giving instructions, the Deputy Commissioner said that it would be the responsibility of all the Block Development Officers and Circle Officers to ensure the arrangement of CCTV cameras at all the booths, deployment of security forces and physical inspection of the law and order of the booth itself.

Giving information in the meeting, Superintendent of Police Anand Prakash said that ensuring the deployment of any kind of special police force or security force in the Panchayat elections is a major priority. Keeping this in mind, keeping in view the existing resources and the utility of the police force, it is the responsibility to conduct the election duly.

During this, he appealed to all the Block Development Officers and Circle Officers to visit their area and take stock of all types of law and order situations. So that no kind of anti-social element can disturb the election. And not to harm any police force. During this, he directed the police force to check the availability of their wireless.

Along with this, all the Block Development Officers should take stock of the arrangement of the booth and the arrangement of the strong room from time to time. Deputy Development Commissioner Praveen Kumar Gagrai, Additional Deputy Commissioner Subodh Kumar, Panchayati Raj Officer Dhanveer Lakra, all senior officers of the district and police forces were present in the meeting.
