Ranchi/Jamshedpur, Nov 21: The single bench of Justice Ambuj Nath of the Jharkhand High Court has granted bail to Jamshedpur-based Company Secretary Ramesh Singh in connection with a case involving allegations of organized crime, criminal breach of trust, fraud, and forgery. The bail petition was registered as B.P. No. 9645/2025.

According to case records, a complaint was lodged by one Manas Mishra alleging that Ramesh Singh had sent forged emails to the Tata Motors Ethics Committee with the intent to malign Mishra and several associates, including V.N. Singh, Rajat Singh, Bhushan Singh, and Vishnu Dixit.

Following this complaint, Jamshedpur Police registered serious charges and arrested Singh on September 9 under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with Sections 66(C) and 66(D) of the Information Technology (Amendment) Act, 2008.

The defense argued before the High Court that Singh was arrested without being informed in writing of the reasons for his arrest, contending that this violated Supreme Court guidelines on lawful arrest.

It was also submitted that the stringent sections invoked related to organized crime did not apply, as the accused had no criminal history or prior court cognizance in similar offences.

Despite these arguments, the lower court had earlier rejected Singh’s bail application twice without detailed reasoning, and remanded him to judicial custody.

Defense counsel also pointed out that Singh was allegedly handcuffed during arrest without justification.

After hearing the matter, the High Court observed that the accused had already spent 74 days in custody, had no previous criminal record, and that the investigation had not shown any evidence of monetary demand linked to the emails.

The court therefore held that Singh was entitled to bail.

The petitioner was represented by advocates Akhilesh Srivastava, Rohit Sinha, Neha Agarwal, M.I. Hasan, and Swagatika Das.
