CII organises Jharkhand State Session of 2nd East India Summit
Jamshedpur, Sep 6: CII Jharkhand organized Jharkhand State Session of 2nd East India Summit with the theme of “Creating a Sustainable Infrastructure Roadmap for Jharkhand” on Friday at Ranchi.
Summit had focused discussion and deliberations on creating a sustainable infrastructure roadmap for the state and a prospective agenda to bring together the stakeholders in the Industrial Infrastructure Sector, Physical Infrastructure Sector, and Social Infrastructure Sector with the Policy makers and the multilateral institutions on a single forum to pave the way forward for taking up the key issues that are afflicting the sector.
Tapas Sahu, Chairman, CII Jharkhand State Council & Managing Director & CEO, Highco Engineers Private Limited said as a nodal player in the overall growth and development process, the industries in Jharkhand need to RISE to become more responsible, more inclusive, more sustainable and more entrepreneurial.
Vandana Dadel, IAS, Principal Secretary, Department of Industry, Government of Jharkhand praised CII for taking up such an important subject “Creating Sustainable Infrastructure Roadmap for Jharkhand”.
She stated that Jharkhand has enormous potential in Auto, Engineering, Textile, and Tourism and advised CII to collaborate with State Govt for few specific projects.
Jitendra Kumar Singh, IAS, Director, Department of Industry, Government of Jharkhand said that with collaborate efforts the bottleneck for overall growth can be addressed.
Director Industry highlighted the new sectoral policies launched by State Government and requested CII to create an awareness within the industries on the policies.
Tarun Daga, Past Chairman, CII Jharkhand State Council & Managing Director, Tata Steel Utilities and Infrastructure Services Limited gave the theme address and updated about the overall need and theme of organizing East India Summit. He said that the summit will focus on the opportunities available and the solutions that are on offer for enhancing cooperation in critical areas like port infrastructure development, railway linkages, multimodal connectivity, urban infrastructure, roads and highways and collaborations for capacity building in the state. The 13-day long summit which started on September 1 will continue till September 13.
He also spoke about the urban infrastructure model of Jamshedpur city and how Tata Steel UISL is running the city and the facilities which the company has provided.
Neeraj Kant, Past Chairman, CII Jharkhand State Council & Managing Director, The Indian Steel & Wire Products Ltd said that CII’s motive to hold the East India Summit is to showcase the potential of the region as well as also invite investor interest in the region to develop infrastructure through PPPs while taking advantage of the policies laid out of the Union and State Governments.
Ram Phal Nehra Convenor – CII Jharkhand Manufacturing & Engg Panel & Plant Manager – Director Tata Cummins Pvt Ltd gave the formal concluding remarks for the session. He said that the Eastern Region was traditionally seen as an economic center for the Western World.
