Jharkhand Govt to provide jobs to 21,000 unemployed

Ranchi, June 2: In a significant move to address unemployment, the Champai Soren government of Jharkhand has initiated efforts to provide jobs to 21,000 young men and women in the private sector.

The Department of Labor Planning, Training, and Skill Development is in advanced discussions with national and international companies for this endeavor, which is nearing finalization. A Mega Skill Conclave, akin to a Skill and Employment Fair, is slated to take place in Ranchi shortly, with companies such as Honda, Cummins India, Maruti Suzuki, and Coca-Cola expected to participate.

Officials from the department have already met with the Vice President (India) of Coca-Cola, laying the groundwork for potential agreements with these companies at the departmental level.

Sanjeev Besra, Director cum Chief Executive of the Skill Development Mission, has been appointed as the nodal officer for the Skill Conclave, overseeing coordination with district-level teams. Vertical teams, led by Joint Secretaries and Deputy Secretaries of the department, are actively engaged in the initiative, with two meetings already held at the departmental secretary level.

The Labor and Employment Department affirmed that employment fairs will continue to be conducted across different districts of the state as part of ongoing efforts. Notably, 45,109 unemployed youths have already secured employment through these fairs, with 26,343 jobs facilitated by the Jharkhand Skill Development Mission Society, 14,989 by the Employment Office, and 3,777 by Industrial Training Institutes.
