Jharkhand govt implements Old Pension Scheme for teachers

Jamshedpur, June 30: The Champai Soren government has announced the reinstatement of the old pension scheme for teachers and non-teaching staff of aided and minority primary and high schools. This resolution, based on a 1990 order from the Human Resource Development Department of the Government of Bihar, mandates that eligible staff appointed on or after September 1, 2022, will benefit from the old pension scheme.

According to the directive, an annual expenditure of Rs 1915.80 lakh is expected upon implementation. Employees appointed between November 12, 2004, and November 31, 2022, will have the option to choose between the old pension scheme and the contributory pension scheme through an affidavit.

Expressing gratitude, officials from the Jharkhand State Aided and Minority Secondary Teachers and Non-Teaching Staff Federation have welcomed the government’s decision, citing it as a successful resolution of a longstanding issue affecting school personnel.
