Saraikela, Dec 8: “The nationwide bandh call given by the Grand Alliance partners against the new Farm Bills of the central government was an attempt in futility. The Bharat Bandh was an absolute failure. The Jharkhand government is baking its political loaf in the farmers’ ovens of misery,” observed Simdega district BJP in-charge Shailendra Singh at a press conference organized by the party’s district unit.
He said that the farmers of the state were being forced to sell their produce at ¼ th price but the state government was unwilling to buy them in spite of the fact that it had provisioned Rs 2,050 as MSP. He said, “The state government had announced a farm budget of Rs 1,362.78 crore but in eight months only Rs 73 crore had been expended. Hemant Soren’s claim of farmers’ being the top priority in its agenda is only limited to the election platform. A budgetary provision of Rs 2,000 crore had been made for loan waiver of farmers but that has turned out to be political gimmick. The Jharkhand government makes big announcements but they remain confined to files and papers. During the Raghubar Das government tenure, farmers used to be provided an honorarium but the Hemant Soren government scrapped the scheme as soon as it took over the reigns of the state. And such people coming to the support of farmers are nothing but a show of concocted deceit.”
