Jharkhand Governor reminds legislators to maintain dignity during state Vidhan Sabha anniversary

Ranchi, Nov 22: Jharkhand Governor Ramesh Bais, while addressing a function organised today on the occasion of 21 st foundation day of the state assembly, asked the legislators to maintain the dignity of the house in the interest of common people.

He said that it is expected from a legislator that they discuss the issues of common people and develop their constituencies from where they come. But it is being observed that creating disturbance, apparently due to live telecast, in assembly proceedings have become a fashion.

He asked the legislators to get rid of this practice to make the state assembly among the best assemblies of the state.

“Legislators should come prepared in the house for proper discussion and raise issues in accordance with rules and regulation instead of shouting in front of the speaker’s chamber,” he said.

Talking about the role of opposition he said its role should be constructive and should ask their question in a better way.

Earlier, chief minister Hemant Soren while addressing the function counted the achievements of the state government and mentioned schemes of giving direct appointment to players, 100% scholarship to ST-SC students for education in foreign and pension to students, senior citizens and widows of the state.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Alamgir Alam, on the occasion talked about conducting legislative business properly and said that it is the duty of all legislators to ensure that the house runs properly and play their proactive role in formulation of laws after proper discussion using all the hours allocated for the business of assembly.

Alam on the occasion informed that out of 322 laws formulated in the state during 21 years as many as 29 laws have been formulated in the last two years when the Soren government came in power.

Bishrampur BJP MLA, Ram Chandra Chandravasi, who is inspired by political leaders like Ram Manohar Lohia, Karpori Thakur and Atal Bihari Vajpayee, was adjudged the best legislator of the year on the occasion.

Besides Chandravanshi, five assembly staffs including joint secretary Ram Niwas Das, Under Secretary Nilesh Ranjan, section officers Roshna Kido and Subhash Kumar besides a fourth grade employee Ramesh Kumar Gupta were also honoured for their distinguished service.

As many as 38 teachers associated with different government schools including those who have been nominated for president award this year and family members of martyrs were also awarded.

The programme was organised under the guidance of assembly speaker, Rabindranath Mahto, who during his address quoted former president APJ Abdul Kalam and expressed his commitment for world peace starting work from the purity of heart. He also talked about initiatives taken for making the assembly paperless.

Best legislator of the year Chandravanshi on the occasion announced that he will take care of the education of children of each martyr’s family.

Speaker of the Vidhan Sabha, Shri Rabindra Nath Mahto said that the celebration of the anniversary also gives an opportunity to review for achieving the objectives of state formation along with saluting the agitators who envisaged the formation of the state and irrigated this movement with their blood. The movement in the state of Jharkhand was the largest long and peaceful movement for state formation in the country. The government is striving to achieve the objectives of inclusive development and state formation in Jharkhand. Work is being done for the benefit of the people of the state.

The Deputy Commissioner of East Singhbhum, Suraj Kumar was felicitated for being first in the state for vaccination, Deputy Commissioner of Ranchi,. Chhavi Ranjan and the Deputy Commissioner of Ramgarh, Madhavi Mishra were honored by giving mementos and citations.

Archer  Komolika Bari, Ankita Bhagat and cricketer Indrani Rai were honoured.

During the function the quarterly magazine Udaan of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly was released and the Executive Summary of the Jharkhand State First Student Parliament was presented.
