Jamshedpur, Dec 6: In an innovative initiative, government school teachers are set to improve their English-speaking skills with the help of a Digital Language Lab. English teachers from CM Schools of Excellence and Model Schools are receiving training in spoken English through the Digital Language Lab, known as Words Worth. This initiative aims to equip teachers with the language proficiency needed to teach students from classes 5 to 12 in English.
The training program, which focuses on enhancing English speaking skills, is being conducted by the Jharkhand Education Project Council (JEPC) for teachers in Chaibasa, Ranchi, Dhanbad, and Garhwa. The program, running until December 21, provides access to the Words Worth app, a third-party mobile application designed to develop fluency in spoken English. In addition to English, Sanskrit teachers are also receiving training in the app’s features to further support their language skills.
Through the Words Worth app, teachers will learn sentence construction and spoken English, enabling them to communicate more effectively with students. The app offers a structured way to enhance fluency in spoken English, an essential skill for teaching in English-medium schools. Once trained, these teachers will be able to use the app to teach their students, helping them gain confidence in English communication.
The government’s larger plan involves affiliating all model schools with the CBSE board, ensuring that teachers are proficient in English to provide education in an English-medium environment. This initiative is part of the ongoing effort to equip teachers with the necessary skills to bridge the language gap, allowing them to comfortably engage with students in English and promote better learning outcomes.
By making use of the Words Worth app, teachers will not only improve their own language skills but will also create a more effective and comfortable English-speaking environment for their students.
