Jamshedpur: To address the ongoing shortage of doctors, Mahatma Gandhi Memorial (MGM) Medical College Hospital is set to appoint 54 non-academic junior resident doctors. This decision aims to provide immediate relief to the hospital’s clinical departments, ensuring that services continue without disruption due to the absence of medical staff.

The superintendent of MGM Medical College announced that the recruitment will involve 54 junior resident doctors who will be appointed for a one-year tenure, with the possibility of an extension for up to two years, depending on the hospital’s requirements. The recruitment process is set to begin with the acceptance of applications, which will remain open until December 18, 2024. Following the application period, counselling for the shortlisted candidates will take place on December 20, 2024.

The hospital has made it clear that MBBS graduates will be given priority during the selection process. The vacancies are distributed across various categories: 17 for the general category, 7 for the Economically Weaker Section (EWS), 16 for Scheduled Tribes (ST), 3 for Scheduled Castes (SC), and 5 for candidates from the BC-2 category.

This move is expected to resolve the pressing issue of doctor shortages in several clinical departments and ensure that medical services are not hampered due to inadequate staffing. The hospital administration has urged all interested and eligible candidates to apply before the deadline and attend the counselling session for further selection procedures.
