Jharkhand government allows classes for 10 and 12 from Dec 21 with consent of parents

Jamshedpur, Dec 17:  The State government on Thursday evening issued a notification permitting resumption of classes between 10 and 12, outside containment zones, with consent of parents, from December 21.

The directive issued by state chief secretary Sukhdev Singh who is also chairperson of the state executive committee of the disaster management department states, “All schools, outside the containment zones are permitted to start offline classes for students of  class 10th and 12th with the consent of their parents with effect from December 21. The schools shall continue to offer online classes for all the students. The schools shall comply with the guidelines issued by the department of school education and literacy, ministry of education, Government of India.”

The directive further states that all schools outside containment zones are permitted to call the students with the consent of their parents solely for the purpose of registration for various boards examination.

The directive also permits medical colleges, dental colleges, nursing colleges, outside the containment zones to start classes from December 21 in compliance with guidelines issued by UGC in this regard.

However, classes of schools, colleges, educational/training and coaching institutions barring the following activities would continue to be prohibited.

Significantly, most of the private schools in Jharkhand will be having winter vacations from Monday (December 21) and are expected to resume classes only in New Year (2021) adhering to guidelines issued for Covid-19 by the state government.
