Ranchi: Jharkhand’s athletes continued their remarkable performance at the ongoing 37th National Games in Goa, securing two more medals on Monday. Rana Pratap Singh clinched a silver medal in the 200-meter breaststroke, while Sapna earned a bronze medal in the 100-meter hurdles event. The state’s athletes, across disciplines such as athletics, women’s hockey, swimming, roll ball, and archery, have been delivering outstanding performances.
In Women’s Hockey, the Jharkhand women’s team secured a convincing 4-0 victory against Goa in their league match, with goals from Albela Rani Toppo, Alka Dungdung, and Nisha Minz.
In Athletics, Supriti Kachhap achieved a 6th place finish, while Basanti Kumari secured 9th place in the 10,000-meter final.
The Roll Ball event witnessed the Jharkhand men’s team defeating Kerala 5-4 in their first league match, with goals from Shrikant Sahu, Subrata Gorai, Mukesh Mukhi, and Divyam Mandal.
The Jharkhand women’s Roll Ball team displayed exceptional performance, defeating Goa with a score of 8-3. Notable contributions came from Labali Kumari, Uzma Khanam, Isha Sonkar, and Raimuni Jamuda.
In Archery, the Indian Round Men’s Archery event saw participants Chittaranjan Tudu, Yogendra Hessa, and Guna Ram Purti advancing to the last 32. In the Indian Round Women’s Archery, Varsha Khalkho, Aarti Kumari, Chand Muni, and Kunkal also progressed to the last 32.
The outstanding achievements of Jharkhand’s athletes have been commended by Chief Minister Hemant Soren, Sports Minister Hafeezul Hasan, Sports Secretary Manoj Kumar, Sports Director Sushant Gaurav, and officials of the Jharkhand Olympic Association.
