Husaini Lohara wins bronze medal in long jump
Jamshedpur, May 2: The 42nd National Masters Athletic Championship organized by Masters Athletic Federation of India, (MAFI) concluded at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai, Tamil Nadu on Sunday, May 1. Team Jharkhand bagged eight medals in the tournament including two gold, one silver and 5 bronze.
Husaini Lohara, a resident of Lohardaga won bronze medal in the long jump event of 75 plus age category on the concluding day of the tournament.
Jharkhand medal winners include SK Tomar and Avtar Singh (gold), Shanti Mukti Barla (silver), Hussaini Lohra, ML Chatterjee, SK Tomar, PG Soy, Laxman Upadhyay (bronze).
Many of the team’s athletes have ensured their place at the national level, being counted among the top 8 players in the competition.
President of Jharkhand Masters Athletic Association Laxman Upadhyay and secretary SK Tomar expressed happiness over the achievement of players. They hoped team Jharkhand will perform even better during the National Championship to be held in Kolkata.
Players and well wishers also congratulated the medal winners.
Jharkhand athletes will reach Jamshedpur on May 3. Office bearers of the association and former players will be present at Tatanagar Railway Station to welcome them.
