Jamshedpur Eid: Entry of heavy vehicles prohibited, magistrates deployed

Jamshedpur, May 2: The district administration has ordered deployment of around 600 strong force of district police accompanied by Rapid Action Force (RAF) jawans at strategic locations in communally sensitive pockets of city especially in Mango, Sakchi, Jugsalai, Shastrinagar (in Kadma), Dhatkidih (in Bistupur), Masjid Road (in Golmuri) and Bhalubasa (in Sitaramdera). Entry of heavy vehicles to the city would be prohibited from 5 am till 12 pm on Tuesday.

Traffic DSP Kamal Kishore said that in view of Eid, there will be no entry in the city from 5 am to 12 pm on May 3. During this, the entry of heavy vehicles into the city will be completely prohibited. At the same time, heavy vehicles going out of the city will also not ply. The operation of mini buses inside the city will remain as before.

He said that the operation of mini-buses inside the city will continue as before. On May 3, a police force will be deployed at the intersections for traffic management. He has appealed to the people to celebrate Eid in a peaceful environment.

The District Control Room will be functional from 02 to 04 May. To maintain law and order, 29 zonal magistrates and 36 police officers have been deputed by the district administration. The District Control Room will remain functional from May 2 to 4 morning. The number of the district control room has been issued by the district administration to the general public. The Deputy Commissioner has appealed to the people to cooperate with the district administration in maintaining peace and order. He said that in case of any emergency, inform the district control room at 8987510050, 0657-2440111.

Pickets would be posted and round the clock patrolling done to maintain law and order, he said, adding peace committee meetings have been held with various communities, who have assured cooperation for peaceful observance of the festival.

During the meeting the peace committee’s members of respective police stations were ordered to coordinate with local police stations officials and the Muslim leaders.

“We want to ensure peaceful celebrations and we are taking steps in this regard. Traffic police departments have been instructed to divert traffic on approach roads leading to mosques and Idgahs at morning when the prayers will be offered. We will also discuss changing the no-entry timing for heavy vehicles with the traffic police as a large number of devotees offer prayers on roads near mosques and Idgahs,” said an official.

Meanwhile, the Steel City is decked up for the occasion Eid.  Markets at Sakchi, Mango, Bistupur and Jugsalai are decked up with different types of goodies.

The people along with their families come out for shopping soon after breaking fast and are seen busy buying shoes, suits, ready-made garments and other items for Eid.

 Most of the shopping markets in Sakchi, Bistupur and Mango have artistically been decorated and illuminated with colorful lights and buntings to attract buyers especially during night.

 Bulk of the shopping centers and fashionable markets have been flooded with domestic and foreign goods as shopkeepers have displayed varieties of ready-made garments, cloths, suits, shoes, cosmetics, eye-catching jewelry and quality three-piece-suits for youth that were rarely seen in the past in the lucrative markets of the city .
