Jharkhand Elections: Former BJP MLA Mangal Singh Soy expresses discontent over ticket distribution

Seraikela, Oct 20: Mangal Singh Soy, the former MLA from Kharsawan, has expressed his discontent with the BJP’s recent ticket distribution by sending a heartfelt letter to the party’s state president, Babulal Marandi. In this letter, Soy has requested to be relieved of all party responsibilities in the upcoming Jharkhand assembly elections. Soy, who has been an active member and dedicated worker of the BJP for over two decades, reflected on his past contributions, including a significant victory in the 2009 elections, where he defeated the Congress candidate by a margin of 25,000 votes.

In his letter, he recounted how he vacated his assembly seat in 2010 at the party’s behest to facilitate former Chief Minister Arjun Munda’s candidacy, demonstrating his commitment to party interests. Despite his loyalty, Soy was not awarded a ticket for the 2019 elections, as the party instead chose Chaibasa resident candidate Jawaharlal Banra, who subsequently lost. Expressing disappointment, Soy noted that his appeals for a chance to contest in the 2024 elections were overlooked, leaving him feeling undervalued after years of service.

Furthermore, he criticized the BJP’s treatment of its leaders, specifically referencing allegations against the party regarding its respect for Champai Soren after his departure to the JMM. Soy’s demands for recognition and respect for loyalty reflect a growing sentiment of discontent among BJP leaders, raising questions about the party’s internal dynamics as the Jharkhand assembly elections approach.
