Kolhan schools to get boost in Mid-Day meal quality and student kits
Jamshedpur: The Kolhan divisional-level meeting of the Education Department was held under the chairmanship of the Minister of School Education, Literacy Department, and Registration Department, Ramdas Soren. The high-level meeting took place at Nirmal Guest House, where several crucial aspects of the education system were discussed, and key directives were issued to improve educational standards across the division.
The meeting focused on vital areas concerning government, aided, and private schools, including enrollment of children in schools, promotion rate and dropout rates, student retention, issuance of Apaar ID cards, enrollment of children in private schools under the Right to Education (RTE) Act, teacher-student ratio and subject-wise teacher postings, distribution of uniforms and school kits, academic performance and examination results, infrastructure of teachers’ training institutes, status of Adarsh Vidyalaya, Chief Minister Utkrishta Vidyalaya, and Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas, education in tribal languages, and implementation of the Mid-Day Meal scheme. The discussions aimed at ensuring quality education, improving student outcomes, and creating a better learning environment for children across all schools in the Kolhan division.

Apart from Education Minister Ramdas Soren, the meeting was attended by Departmental Secretary Umashankar Singh, State Project Director Shashi Ranjan, Secondary Education Director Aditya Ranjan, Primary Education Director Shashi Prakash, East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal, Saraikela Deputy Commissioner Ravishankar Shukla, West Singhbhum Deputy Development Commissioner Sandeep Kumar Meena, and District Education Officers and Superintendents from all three districts.
While presiding over the meeting, Soren emphasized the government’s dedication to strengthening the education infrastructure, ensuring the mental and physical development of students, and fostering their overall personality growth. He reiterated that education, health, and employment remain the government’s top priorities and assured that continuous efforts are being made to promote girl education and achieve 100% school enrollment. He called upon the education department, district administration, public representatives, parents, and intellectuals to work collaboratively and fulfill their collective social responsibility toward improving education. He highlighted that the government is committed to providing world-class educational facilities in institutions such as Kasturba Gandhi Residential Schools, Block-Level Adarsh Vidyalayas, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Schools, and Chief Minister Utkrishta Vidyalayas. Congratulating students of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas for their recent achievements, the minister stated that significant measures are being undertaken to rectify the teacher-student ratio, enhance local language studies, improve examination results, prepare students for competitive exams, and implement vocational training programs.
During the review, the Minister instructed the Deputy Commissioners of Kolhan Division to conduct regular meetings with departmental officials and school management to ensure quality education and proper facilities. The directives included 100% registration of students from private schools on the U-DISE portal, issuance of Apaar ID cards for all students in private schools, mapping and enrolling dropout students, balancing the teacher-student ratio through subject-wise teacher rationalization, organizing special coaching classes for students seeking admission in top schools, utilizing resources from the DMFT fund for necessary infrastructure improvements, ensuring timely distribution of government-provided uniforms, books, and school kits, and guaranteeing high-quality mid-day meals for children. The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to ensuring a strong educational framework in Kolhan Division. Minister emphasized that with coordinated efforts from all stakeholders, the goal of providing quality education and holistic development for children in Jharkhand can be successfully achieved.
