Jamshedpur, Dec 26: Steel City to witness a historic moment on December 29, Monday as President of India Droupadi Murmu will be here for her first official visit after assuming office.
The President will reach Ranchi’s Birsa Munda Airport and from there travel to Jamshedpur in an Indian Army chopper, landing at the Sonari airport at around 10:20 am.

On arrival, President Murmu will be accorded a ceremonial Guard of Honour.
She will then proceed by road to the sacred Dishom Jaherthan at Karandih, where she is scheduled to offer prayers in traditional tribal attire.

The President will also pay floral tributes to the statue of Pandit Raghunath Murmu, the revered creator of the Ol Chiki script, and honour distinguished guests from India and abroad.

Later in the day, the President will attend the convocation ceremony at the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Adityapur, in neighbouring Seraikela-Kharsawan district.
Tight Security, Special Forces in Command
Ahead of the high-profile visit, elite special forces have taken complete charge of security at Karandih Jaherthan and the NIT campus since Friday.
Entry and all activities at both venues have been strictly restricted without prior clearance.

Security personnel are maintaining round-the-clock surveillance, with administrative officials and intelligence agencies on high alert.
Authorities have described the arrangements as multi-layered security from ground to air.

President May Address Gathering in Santhali
According to organisers, President Murmu may address the gathering in the Santhali language, adding emotional and cultural significance to the event.
The Karandih programme marks the grand conclusion of the centenary celebrations of the Ol Chiki script.

Extensive decoration and beautification work is underway at the venue to commemorate the occasion.
Governor, Chief Minister to Arrive a Day Earlier
Jharkhand Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar and Chief Minister Hemant Soren are expected to reach Jamshedpur a day in advance to participate in the programme.
Around 100 distinguished guests from across the country and abroad will attend the celebrations.

With unprecedented security measures and cultural importance, President Murmu’s visit is being seen as a landmark event for Jamshedpur and the tribal heartland of Jharkhand.

Industries asked to modify shift timings for President’s visit
Seraikela, Dec 26: In view of the President of India’s scheduled visit to Seraikela-Kharsawan district on December 29, the district administration has issued an advisory to all factories and industrial establishments.
The President is slated to attend a programme at NIT Jamshedpur in Adityapur, on the same day.

According to the notification, traffic movement in several parts of the district will remain affected or restricted from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm on December 29, with temporary disruptions expected on key routes.
To minimise inconvenience to workers and ensure smooth law-and-order and security arrangements, Labour Superintendent Avinash Kumar Thakur has directed and requested the management of all shift-based industrial units to revise their work schedules.

As per the advisory, the first shift on December 29 should conclude at 4:00 pm instead of the usual 2:00 pm, while the second shift should commence only after 4:00 pm.
The administration directive stated that these measures aim to prevent commuting difficulties for employees during the restricted hours and to facilitate effective traffic management and security during the President’s visit.

Preparations begin for President’s visit to Santhali cultural event
With President Droupadi Murmu’s proposed visit to Jamshedpur on November 29, preparations have gathered momentum for the 22nd Santhali Parsi Maha and the centenary celebrations of the Ol Chiki script. The President is scheduled to attend the grand event at Dishom Jaher, Karandih, as the chief guest. Potka MLA Sanjib Sardar visited the venue and held discussions with members of the organising committee to review preparations and understand various aspects of the programme. “This event is a matter of pride not only for the Santhali community but for the entire state of Jharkhand,” the MLA said. He noted that the President’s presence would give national recognition to the Santhali language, culture and the Ol Chiki script.
Members of the organising committee shared details of the planned celebrations during the meeting.
Security review ahead of Prez visit in Seraikela
Seraikela, Dec 26: Ahead of the proposed visit of the President of India, extensive preparations are underway in Seraikela-Kharsawan district.
Deputy Commissioner Nitish Kumar Singh and Superintendent of Police Mukesh Luniyat jointly inspected the NIT campus, the proposed programme venue, arrival–departure routes, and other key locations to review law and order, security, and traffic arrangements.
During the inspection, the officials assessed the preparedness related to security protocols, traffic management, parking facilities, safe rooms, control rooms and other essential arrangements.
A comprehensive review meeting was later held at the JIADA auditorium with officers of all concerned departments.
The Deputy Commissioner directed all departments to complete every aspect of preparation by December 27 without fail.
Special emphasis was laid on the route line arrangements, with instructions to immediately repair or secure electric poles, hanging wires and other electrical installations along the President’s arrival and departure routes.
Departments were also instructed to conduct on-site inspections and submit all mandatory safety and security clearance certificates by December 27, in accordance with prescribed standards.
To ensure smooth, safe and uninterrupted traffic movement, officials were directed to plan route diversions wherever necessary. Police station in-charges and municipal officials were instructed to remove construction materials, debris and abandoned or damaged vehicles from the route line to prevent any obstruction.
Issuing strict instructions, Deputy Commissioner Nitish Kumar Singh stated that no lapse or negligence in security, protocol or overall preparations would be tolerated under any circumstances.
He emphasized that all administrative and police officers must discharge their responsibilities with utmost alertness, accountability and sensitivity.
The review meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Jayvardhan Kumar, Additional Municipal Commissioner Adityapur Ravi Prakash, Deputy Municipal Commissioner Parul Singh, Sub-Divisional Officers and Police Officers of Seraikela and Chandil, District Transport Officer, District Mining Officer, District Public Relations Officer, along with senior officials from various departments and the police administration.
