Jharkhand DGP reviews crime, law and order situation

Ranchi, Feb 28: Tadasha Mishra, Director General of Police (DGP) of Jharkhand, chaired a high-level review meeting at the state police headquarters today to assess the prevailing crime situation and law-and-order challenges. The meeting focused on strengthening action against criminal activities and intensifying the ongoing anti-Naxal operations across the state.
During the review, the DGP directed officials to revisit previously registered cases related to threats, extortion (levy), arson, and vandalism, and to ensure the prompt arrest of absconding accused. She instructed that attachment of property proceedings be initiated against fugitives and that rewards be announced where necessary to expedite their capture.
Swift verification of intelligence inputs and timely action were also emphasized.
Reinforcing the state’s commitment to counter-insurgency efforts, the DGP called for the expansion of anti-Naxal operations and wider publicity of the surrender policy to encourage more individuals to return to the mainstream.
She stressed the need to strengthen local intelligence networks, informer systems, and digital surveillance mechanisms to enhance actionable intelligence gathering.
Special vigilance has been ordered for extremists and hardened criminals released on bail.
Strict measures were directed to ensure the arrest of members of criminal gangs and other offenders.
The review also covered serious crimes including robbery, murder, theft, dacoity, rape, offences under the POCSO Act, cybercrime, and other criminal activities, with instructions for expedited and result-oriented action.
All Zonal Inspectors General (IGs) and Deputy Inspectors General (DIGs) have been tasked with personally overseeing the implementation of these directives.
They have been instructed to conduct field visits in affected areas, guide district-level officers, and regularly review cases related to extremism to ensure effective enforcement.
The meeting was attended by senior officials, including Additional Director General (Operations) T. Kandasamy, ADG (Crime Investigation Department) Manoj Kaushik, CRPF IG Saket Kumar Singh, and several other Inspectors General and regional Deputy Inspectors General. Superintendents of Police from Latehar, Hazaribagh, Lohardaga, Chatra, and Palamu joined the meeting via video conferencing.
