Jamshedpur, Feb 28: A shocking road accident in the Sakchi police station area has once again exposed the dangers of reckless driving. The incident occurred near Hotel Sagar roundabout, where a speeding pickup van rammed into a scooter carrying a couple.
The impact was so severe that the woman riding the scooter was thrown onto the road, and the pickup van dragged her along with the scooter for nearly two meters before coming to a halt.
Eyewitnesses said the driver attempted to flee the spot, but alert locals quickly chased the vehicle and managed to intercept it a short distance away.
The driver was subsequently handed over to the police.
Panic gripped the area following the accident.
The injured woman is reported to be in critical condition and was immediately rushed to Tata Main Hospital (TMH), where she remains under close medical supervision.
Her husband sustained minor injuries in the mishap.
On receiving information, Sakchi police reached the spot and initiated an investigation. The pick-up van has been seized, and the driver is being interrogated.
