Jharkhand crosses fingers as Hudhud reaches closer

Jamshedpur: The impact of tropical cyclone Hudhud was felt in Jharkhand with rains at several places in the city and the state Capital accompanied by strong winds and a cloudy weather.

Met department sources said the cyclone was steadily approaching forward from the Bay of Bengal towards coastal areas of Orissa and Andhra Pradesh. The effects of the cyclonic activity are likely to be felt considerably in the nine districts of the state including East Singhbhum and West Singhbhum.

As per Met office forecast, many parts of the state may witness good rain. Heavy rains and strong winds may be witnessed from 12th October to 14th October, the forecast said.

In view of the cyclonic threat, high alert has been issued in Jharkhand. A team of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) from New Delhi is camping in Ranchi to formulate strategy to deal with the possibility of natural calamity. Relief camps are being set up in advance to deal with exigency, sources said.

Met department sources said the impact of Cyclone Hudhud may be felt in Kolhan from the night of 11th October. Kolhan region is under special focus of the NDRF team.
