Ranchi, Nov 2: Chief Minister Hemant Soren has written a letter to Union rural development and panchayati raj minister Giriraj Singh requesting him to provide housing facilities to families registered on Awas Plus under the ambit of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (rural).
The Chief Minister has conveyed through the letter that out of 10,35,895 families in the state listed for Awas Plus scheme, a physical target of only 4,03,504 units was provided for the financial year 2021-22 while remaining 6,32,391 eligible families have not received the benefits of housing.
“The Ministry of Rural Development has also removed 2,03,061 families from the list of families registered in Awas Plus. Most of these families are those who are eligible for housing, but due to wrong entry made during the tenure of previous governments are still deprived of housing facilities,” the letter states.
The Chief Minister has requested that a physical target of 6,32,391 should be allotted for the state of Jharkhand in the financial year 2022-23 under the Awas Plus scheme. Also, 2.03.061 families removed from Awaas Plus should be provided the facility of declaration post due verification.
Expressing gratitude to the Union Minister, the Chief Minister has written that Awas Plus App was developed by the Ministry of Rural Development to add the eligible beneficiaries who were left out in the priority list prepared on the basis of the data collected from the Social, Economic and Caste Census of 2011.
On behalf of the people of the state, Hemant Soren expressed his heartfelt gratitude for providing the facility of geo-tagging of 1.53,814 families deprived of housing due to non-availability of geo-tag within the stipulated time period.
He also extended his token of thanks for providing the option of correction in the job cards of 41,461 families who were otherwise facing issues related to duplicate job card entry in Awas Plus.
