Ranchi, February 4: Jharkhand chief minister and JMM executive president Hemant Soren continued to pitch original settlers against outsiders to target BJP during the 51st foundation of JMM at Dhanbad on Saturday.

“Seeing the development of tribals and indigenous people, BJP people are feeling pain in their stomach. They are not able to digest work of a tribal youth chief minister for locals. When the Khatiyan (land survey) based law of 1932 was passed in the assembly for the benefit of Jharkhandis, 20 people together challenged it in the court. In this one belonged to Jharkhand, the rest had roots in UP and Bihar. These people do not want to allow the tribal natives to move forward,” said Soren.

“But there is no need to panic, struggle and sacrifice are part of the life of Jharkhandis and we need to answer them politically as we have done in 2019,” added Soren.

“Babulal Marandi became the first Chief Minister and was a tribal thereafter Arjun Munda also a tribal became chief minister. One was removed in two years and the other in three years. But a person with roots in Chhattisgarh (Raghubar Das) completed his five-year term. These people do not like the progress of tribals. For the first time in 20 years, a strong tribal government has been formed. Since then BJP people have been harassing the entire Soren family one way or another,” alleged Soren.

The Chief Minister enumerated the achievements of the government and spoke of supporting the tribal people.

The function was also addressed by JMM supremo and Rajya Sabha MP Shibu Soren, Rajya Sabha MP Mahua Manjhi among others.

Soren said that coal companies have extracted coal from Dhanbad and handed it over to fire, due to which the people of this place are facing the pain of displacement today.

“Land is ours, coal is ours but till date the Center has not given a single penny to this state and we have an outstanding due of Rs 1.36 lakh crores from the coal companies. After government formation we demanded money, but did not get it. If the Center gives money today, then each displaced person will be provided employment along with rehabilitation. The youth of the state will not need to go outside, they will get employment only here,” claimed Soren.

The Chief Minister said that he had demanded the central government to buy rice from FCI  for ration but the center did not give permission.

“Today we are doing the work of buying rice at the market rate and giving it to the poor. When the BJP was in the opposition, it used to call inflation a witch. Today inflation has become his sister-in-law. A gas cylinder is available for Rs 1200. Vegetables and pulses have disappeared from the plate and every day these people are only trying to mislead the public. These people are even selling the railways and airports,” said Soren.
