Jharkhand CM nod for 37 prisoners release

Ranchi, February 17: In all 37 prisoners serving life sentence in different jails of Jharkhand will be released.

In the meeting of Jharkhand State Sentence Review Board chaired by Chief Minister Hemant Soren, it has been decided to release these prisoners. In the meeting, along with the new cases related to release, the cases of those prisoners were also reconsidered, who were rejected in the previous meetings of Jharkhand State Sentence Review Board. In the meeting, the Chief Minister held a point-wise in-depth discussion with the officials on the proposal to release 103 prisoners serving life sentence in various prisons of the state in the light of the recommendation of the State Sentence Review Board.

The people whose release was recommended by the State Sentence Review Board were seriously considered. The Chief Minister took complete information about the criminal tendency of the prisoners and the opinion of the court, Superintendents of Police of the concerned districts, Jail Superintendents and Probation Officers. After this, Chief Minister Hemant Soren gave his consent to the proposal to release 37 prisoners.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren told the officials that after the release of these prisoners, the social, economic and family background of all must be verified. Connect them with the public welfare schemes of the Jharkhand government. He directed the Inspector General of Prisons to maintain the track record of these prisoners after their release. Superintendents of Police of the districts and other officers should continuously monitor all their activities.
