Ranchi: Chief Minister Hemant Soren handed over appointment letters to 299 newly recruited personnel under the Women, Child Development and Social Security Department on Tuesday. The cohort includes 62 Child Development Project Officers (CDPOs) and 237 women supervisors.
During the ceremony at the Jharkhand Secretariat, Soren noted that these large-scale recruitments address a long-standing vacancy in the department. He emphasized that the new recruits will hold primary responsibility for implementing grassroots welfare schemes, particularly in remote regions that currently lack basic facilities.
Addressing the state’s health challenges, the Chief Minister identified malnutrition as a priority issue. He tasked the new officers with playing an active role in eliminating malnutrition across Jharkhand through departmental initiatives.
To support administrative transparency and field operations, the government has provided mobile phones and tablets to block- and village-level workers. Soren stated that these tools aim to improve coordination and ensure the speedy delivery of benefits to both rural and urban areas.
The event was attended by Minister Radha Krishna Kishore, Chief Secretary Avinash Kumar, and Secretary of the Women and Child Development Department Uma Shankar Singh.
