Ranchi, Feb 3: Chief Minister Hemant Soren during the 14th meeting of Jharkhand State Wildlife Board has directed that the children studying in the schools located inside the shelters of wild animals should be made aware about the conservation of animals. This will strengthen wildlife conservation.
Apart from this, he has directed the forest department to pay special attention to wildlife, especially the elephant corridor. The CM has said that the department should work on installing a wall or high iron barrier along the roads passing through the Elephant Corridor. This will ensure the movement of elephants. He also directed that If needed, get the underpass constructed better for them.
Chief Secretary Sukhdev Singh, additional chief secretary L.K. Khingyate, PCCF Rajiv Ranjan, Director General of Police Neeraj Sinha, ADG CID Prashant Kumar, director of fisheries HN Dwivedi, DFOs of various forest divisions, members of NGOs working for wildlife conservation and others were present.
In the meeting, the CM also talked about fossils. He said that Fossil Park is being constructed in Sahebganj but it is not taken seriously.
“We did not share this information with the people. Make people aware about this. These fossils are not stones but pages of history. There should also be an investigation of the existence of fossils in the coal mining area, “ said Soren.
Hement Soren said that there is need to make changes regarding road construction in forest areas and directed for constituting a committee for the widening of the National Highway passing through Koderma Wildlife Sanctuary. With the formation of the committee, the conservation of wildlife will be done.
A total of nine agendas were discussed in the meeting. Two of them were deferred one withdrawn and five agendas accepted. In this, the management plan of wildlife shelters, formulation of Jharkhand Wildlife Policy, diagnosis of health problems of villagers of villages located inside wildlife sanctuaries of the state, extensive plantation along the Ranchi-Jamshedpur highway, construction work of Fossil Park in Sahebganj and other topics were discussed.
At the same time, detailed discussions were held on the proposal for widening of roads passing through forest land, bridge construction, railway line construction including Palamu Tiger Reserve, Lavalong Wildlife Sanctuary, Gautam Buddha Wildlife Sanctuary.
