Seraikela, June 30: On the occasion of Hul Diwas, Chief Minister Champai Soren visited the Kumdih and Gamdesai fair in Rajnagar, where he paid homage to martyrs Sidho and Kanhu by garlanding their statues. Arriving by helicopter at Rolla Football Ground, CM Soren addressed the gathering in both Santali and Hindi, highlighting the various welfare schemes being implemented by the government.

In his speech, CM Soren emphasized the historical significance of the 1855 revolution led by Sidho, Kanhu, Chand, and Bhairav against British rule, which laid the foundation for the Santal Pargana and the enactment of the CNT-SPT Act. He urged the people to remember the sacrifices of their ancestors and work towards the development of their land.

CM Soren announced several forthcoming initiatives, including a pension scheme of Rs 1000 for women aged 21 to 50 starting in August, and health insurance benefits of up to Rs 15 lakh for the poor to cover major diseases. He also spoke about the ‘Abua Housing’ project, which aimed to provide housing to 20 lakh families.

Addressing the need for education in regional languages, the Chief Minister stated that tribal teachers were being recruited to teach in Santhali, Ho, Kurmali, Mundari, and Oriya. He also announced a significant recruitment drive, with plans to hire 50,000 teachers and start police recruitment within the next two months.

Criticizing the previous BJP government, CM Soren highlighted their failure to prioritize the welfare of tribal natives and their decision to close 5000 primary schools. He assured that his government would reopen these schools to ensure educational access to poor children.

Concluding his speech, CM Soren reiterated the government’s commitment to providing food, clothing, shelter, health, and education to the tribals, natives, poor, Dalits, and backward classes of Jharkhand, ensuring that the mineral wealth of the state benefitted its people.
