Radhakrishnan to take oath today

Ranchi, February 17: Jharkhand’s new Governor CP Radhakrishnan arrived in Ranchi on Friday.
    

Chief Minister Hemant Soren, Assembly Speaker Rabindra Nath Mahto and state ministers received him at the airport. He was also given a guard of honour there.

Radhakrishnan will take oath as the 11th governor of Jharkhand at Raj Bhavan on Saturday.
   

Earlier in the day, former Jharkhand governor Ramesh Bais left for Maharashtra to take charge as the governor of the western state. Soren extended an emotional farewell to him at the Ranchi Airport.

Acting Chief Justice of Jharkhand Justice Aparesh Singh will administer the new Governor oath on February 18 here at Birsa Mandap of the Raj Bhavan.

The new chief justice of Jharkhand Sanjaya Kumar Mishra name was notified on Friday.

Name of Radhakrishnan as new governor of Jharkhand was notified by the President’s House on February 12.

Once Radhakrishnan assumed charge, Jharkhand will get its 10th governor. He was a member of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and was elected to the Lok Sabha twice from Coimbatore.

He was also the former state president of the party for Tamil Nadu. Till recently he was the National Executive Member of the Bharatiya Janata Party and was appointed the Kerala BJP Prabhari (In-Charge by the party’s high command.

He was Chairman of the All-India Coir Board from 2016 to 2019, which comes under the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME).
