Cabinet clears 26 key proposals
CM expresses displeasure over power cuts during cabinet meeting
Ranchi, June 20: In a move towards strengthening education and infrastructure in Jharkhand, the State Cabinet led by Chief Minister Hemant Soren approved 26 major proposals during a meeting held at Project Bhawan on Friday. Cabinet Secretary Vandana Dadel briefed the media about the key decisions taken.
Among the most notable approvals was the administrative sanction of ₹38.76 crore for the construction of a new degree college in Ichagarh, and ₹57 crore for the establishment of a women’s college in Khunti. These decisions are part of the government’s broader initiative to enhance higher education facilities across the state.
In another key development, the cabinet approved the formation of the Jharkhand Rajkiyakrit Prathmik Shikshak Promotion Rules, 2025, aimed at streamlining teacher promotions. Additionally, on the directive of the National AIDS Control Organization (NACO), the government approved the formation of the Jharkhand State Legislative Forum on HIV-AIDS, which will work to strengthen district-level AIDS control centers. The forum will be chaired by the departmental minister and include five MLAs nominated by the Speaker.
In the infrastructure sector, several important projects received green signals. These include: ₹141 crore for the construction of a four-lane road from Argora Chowk to Ring Road in Ranchi. ₹301.12 crore for the development of a cycle track and service road from Vivekananda School Mor to Ring Road. ₹38 crore for the road construction from Simdega-Kurdeg to the Chhattisgarh border.
The cabinet also decided to increase the number of Jharkhand Governor Medals, now awarding 21 medals for excellence in service (up from 11) and 60 medals for commendable service (up from 31). Moreover, a grant of ₹3 crore per year was approved for the Jharkhand Hindu Trust Board.
However, the cabinet meeting was marred by frequent power cuts, causing brief chaos in the ministry premises. Several employees were seen rushing about, and some even got stuck in lifts. Cries for help and calls to start the generator were heard. Chief Minister Hemant Soren was visibly upset and strongly reprimanded officials, demanding to know why power backup failed during such a critical meeting.
