JBA issues show-cause notice to coach Karthik Mahato
Jamshedpur, March 31: In a bid to foster the growth of boxing across Jharkhand, the Jharkhand Boxing Association (JBA) convened its annual general body meeting at the JRD Tata Sports Complex in Jamshedpur on Sunday. Presided over by JBA President Uttam Singh, discussions primarily revolved around enhancing boxing infrastructure and facilities statewide, with a specific focus on developing Garhwa district into a prominent boxing hub.
Highlighting Garhwa’s burgeoning talent pool, Uttam Singh who is also the Vice President, Iron Making, Tata Steel, expressed the association’s commitment to nurturing boxing talent in the region. Noting the emergence of six national-level players from Garhwa in just two years, Singh pledged full support from the JBA to bolster the district’s boxing ecosystem.

During the event, promising young boxer Neha Tantubai of Jamshedpur was lauded for her exceptional performances, receiving a cash prize of Rs 11,000 along with a boxing kit. Additionally, Ayushi Dubey and Shrinda Kumari were recognized as the most disciplined boxers.
The gathering also saw the presence of dignitaries such as Anil Bohidar from the Boxing Federation of India, Harbhajan Singh from the Jharkhand Olympic Association, as well as JBA Secretary Anand Bihari Dubey, Treasurer RK Verma, Hassan Imam Malik, and representatives from 16 districts of Jharkhand.
JBA revokes recognition of Ranchi Boxing District Association
In a notable development, the JBA took decisive action against the Ranchi District Boxing Association, revoking its recognition due to alleged arbitrary practices. The association also issued a show-cause notice to coach cum qualified referee Karthik Mahato.
Furthermore, plans were outlined to release the JBA’s annual calendar in the upcoming meetings, reflecting the association’s commitment to streamlining its operations and promoting boxing in the region.
