New Delhi / Ranchi, March 31: In a resounding display of unity and determination, thousands of individuals converged at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan for the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (I.N.D.I.A.) Maha rally, rallying against perceived threats to democracy under the current central government. Led by Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren, Kalpana Murmu Soren (wife of former Chief Minister Hemant Soren), and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader Mahua Maji, the rally served as a platform to voice concerns and rally support for democratic rights.

Championing democracy amidst adversity

Addressing the gathered crowds, Chief Minister Champai Soren underscored the importance of the rally, emphasizing its role in safeguarding democracy amidst what he described as a growing trend towards authoritarianism at the center. He urged citizens to join hands in the fight to preserve democratic values and resist attempts to undermine constitutional principles.

Kalpana Soren echoed these sentiments, highlighting the imperative for citizens to actively participate in defending democracy. Despite her husband’s incarceration in a land scam case, she remained steadfast in her commitment to democratic ideals, urging people to rise up and fight for their rights.

Rallying for democratic values

The speakers lamented the erosion of rights enshrined by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and warned against the rising tide of intolerance and hatred gripping the nation. They emphasized the power of the people in upholding democracy, stressing that no leader, however powerful, could overshadow the collective strength of 140 crore citizens.

Kalpana Soren drew parallels between the current struggle for democracy and the timeless wisdom of Lord Shri Ram, urging attendees to emulate his virtues of patience and tolerance even in the face of adversity.

Empowering women in leadership

JMM leader Mahua Maji celebrated the presence and leadership of women like Kalpana Soren and Sunita Kejriwal at the rally, hailing the I.N.D.I.A. alliance as a beacon of women empowerment. She emphasized the pivotal role of women in driving positive change and shaping the future of the nation.

A call to action

As the rally concluded, the speakers reiterated their resolve, proclaiming that Jharkhand and India would not yield to authoritarianism and would continue to uphold democratic values. With chants of “Jai Hind” reverberating through the crowd, the rally served as a potent reminder of the enduring strength of democracy and the collective will of the people.

The I.N.D.I.A. alliance’s message of democratic resilience is expected to resonate far beyond Ramlila Maidan, inspiring citizens across the nation to stand up and safeguard the democratic fabric of India.
