Ranchi/Jamshedpur, July 7: The BJP on Tuesday demanded a court-monitored CBI investigation into the sensational DD Bar murder case, alleging police bias, wrongful implication of the bar owner, and a deliberate attempt to shield erring policemen.
A BJP delegation led by state president Aditya Sahu and Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi submitted a memorandum to the Governor at Raj Bhavan, urging immediate intervention in the investigation into the murder of Himanshu Singh.
According to the memorandum, Himanshu Singh, associated with the Karni Sena, was allegedly dragged out of a PCR vehicle and murdered in the presence of police personnel in the Adityapur area of Jamshedpur on June 27.
Another youth, Pratyush Singh, continues to battle for life at a hospital in Kolkata.
The BJP described the incident as a glaring example of the “collapse of law and order” in Jharkhand, alleging that instead of conducting a fair investigation, the police were attempting to divert the case and protect officers who were present at the spot.
The party also came out in support of DD Bar owner Neeraj Singh, claiming he had been falsely implicated despite not being present at the spot during the incident. It alleged that the police arbitrarily arrested him, seized two of his vehicles, and harassed his wife and daughter, raising serious questions over the fairness of the investigation.
Demanding the Governor’s intervention, the BJP urged that the entire case be handed over to the CBI for an impartial and transparent probe.
