Jamshedpur, June 4: The statewide bandh called by Adivasi Bachao Morcha and Kendriya Sarna Sthal Sirmatoli Bachao Morcha had little to no impact in Jamshedpur on Wednesday. The protest, organized in demand for the removal of the ramp near Sirmatoli Sarna Sthal and to safeguard tribal religious sites like Marangburu, Luguburu, and Mudhar Hill, also raised broader demands including strict enforcement of the PESA Act, protection of tribal land, the formation of a religious trust board, policy changes, and preservation of tribal language and culture.
Despite the call for bandh, city life remained normal. Public transport operated without disruption, with buses running from Mango bus stand to Ranchi, Dhanbad, Bokaro, Bhubaneswar, and other destinations. Essential services such as medical shops, ambulances, and funeral processions were exempted from the bandh. Some political groups extended their support to the bandh and urged the government to address the issues raised.
