Jharkhand Assembly gears up for grand Silver Jubilee Celebration on Nov 22

Ranchi, Nov 19: Preparations for the 25th anniversary (Silver Jubilee) of the Jharkhand Assembly are in full swing, with Speaker Ravindranath Mahto reviewing all arrangements in a high-level meeting with senior officials on Wednesday. He directed all departments to ensure that the historic occasion is organised in a “grand and disciplined” manner to reflect Jharkhand’s proud legislative journey.

The Foundation Day event, scheduled for 11 am on 22 November at the Assembly premises, will honour the state’s brave martyrs, including soldiers who sacrificed their lives on the border, personnel killed in anti-Naxal operations and police officers who received gallantry awards during peacetime. Medal-winning sportspersons and individuals awarded the President’s Medal for social contributions will also receive special recognition. All former Speakers and former MLAs have been invited and will be felicitated during the ceremony.

From 6 pm onwards, the Assembly complex will come alive with cultural performances. Renowned Bollywood playback singer Roop Kumar Rathod will enthrall the audience with his soulful renditions. Noted humorist Dr. Dinesh Bawra and comedian Ravindra Johnny will present comic poetry sessions. To highlight Jharkhand’s rich cultural heritage, folk artistes including Pramand Nanda, Mrinalini Akhori, Tom Murmu and Sumi Shreya will perform traditional songs and dances.

The Speaker instructed officials to ensure flawless arrangements related to guest arrival, accommodation and traffic management. “This Silver Jubilee is linked to Jharkhand’s identity and pride. There must not be any shortcomings,” Mahto stressed.

The meeting was attended by the Chief Secretary, Director General of Police, Ranchi district administration and senior officials from multiple departments.
