Jamshedpur: A speech competition titled “Main Bhi Hoon Indira” was organised at Tilak Pustakalay, Jamshedpur, on the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna Indira Gandhi. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from a large number of women. It was organised under the leadership of East Singhbhum District Congress President Parvinder Singh.

The panel of judges included Congress district in-charge Baljeet Singh Bedi, National President of Women INTUC Devika Singh and senior journalist Anni Amrita, author of the book “Main Indira Banna Chahti Hoon.”

The objective of the competition was to promote women’s empowerment and provide a strong platform for women to express themselves, showcase leadership and articulate their ideas. Participants delivered speeches inspired by the life, leadership and contributions of Indira Gandhi.

Speaking at the event, organiser Parvinder Singh said such initiatives help boost women’s confidence and strengthen their role in society. Judge Baljeet Singh Bedi urged women to come forward, recognise their potential and lead boldly.

Addressing the participants, Devika Singh described Indira Gandhi as “a remarkable woman of firm determination who rose to prominence at a time when women rarely stepped out of their homes.”
Author Anni Amrita remarked that Indira Gandhi cannot be confined within the limits of any one party or organisation. “She is an inspiration for women and men across the world. Millions have drawn strength from her to achieve great things,” she said. “Becoming Indira means never giving up and staying resilient even in adversity.”
