‘Jhar Jal Portal’ for quick resolution of drinking water issues

Jamshedpur: The Jharkhand government has launched the Jhar Jal Portal to provide a streamlined mechanism for addressing drinking water-related complaints across the state. This initiative allows citizens, including residents of East Singhbhum district, to lodge grievances through toll-free numbers, phone calls, and emails. The government aims to ensure the timely repair of water supply systems, maintain water quality, and improve overall sanitation facilities.

According to district administration officials, in just the past week alone, 744 complaints have been received from East Singhbhum, of which 587 cases have already been resolved. The resolved complaints include 515 related to hand pump repairs, 159 concerning the small water supply scheme, 22 linked to the large water supply scheme, 6 pipeline leakages, 28 drinking water supply issues, 3 related to water quality, and 3 sanitation concerns, while 10 other miscellaneous complaints were also addressed.

The district administration has urged residents to take advantage of the Jhar Jal Portal for the swift redressal of their drinking water issues. Authorities have assured the public that all registered complaints will be promptly addressed, ensuring an efficient and transparent process.

The Jhar Jal Portal facilitates the registration of various drinking water and sanitation-related grievances. Some of the primary categories include: Handpump Issues – Repairs, water level reduction, water contamination concerns. Small Water Supply Scheme – Issues related to home connections, solar-based water supply, and other technical faults. Large Water Supply Scheme – Problems concerning water supply disruptions, home pipeline connections, and motor-related faults. Water Quality Complaints – Cases of impure or contaminated water supply, laboratory testing requests. Sanitation and Hygiene Concerns – Complaints related to toilet maintenance, soak pits, menstrual hygiene management, and solid & liquid waste management

Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal has urged residents to proactively use the toll-free helpline and email services to register their complaints so that necessary repairs and maintenance of water sources can be ensured without delay. He emphasized that the administration is committed to providing safe and clean drinking water to every household in the district and will continue to monitor the effectiveness of the grievance redressal system.
