Jamshedpur: A major theft has been reported from the residence of Shah Faisal, a Junior Engineer with Tata Steel, in Jawaharnagar (Road No. 14) under the Mango police station area. Burglars are suspected to have decamped with jewellery worth approximately Rs 20 lakh, triggering shock and concern in the locality.
The theft came to light late Tuesday night when Faisal’s wife went to retrieve jewellery from a cupboard on the first floor of their home before heading to a wedding in Golmuri. To her surprise, the jewellery bag was missing. Though the locker itself was shut, the key had been carelessly left on a nearby table — raising suspicion that the intruder may have accessed the valuables without breaking the lock.

The family immediately informed Mango police, who reached the spot and launched an investigation. Early indications suggest that the theft may have been an inside job, as there were no signs of forced entry into the house.
“We are reviewing CCTV footage from the area and questioning people familiar with the household,” said a police official. “There are indications that the person responsible was aware of the house layout and the family’s schedule.”

Investigators are now exploring all possible angles, including the involvement of someone known to the family. As the probe continues, police have urged residents to take precautionary measures and secure their valuables.
