Jamshedpur Sikh Community Honour Historian Jaswant Singh

Jamshedpur: Prominent leaders, historians, and community members gathered for the final Ardas ceremony of eminent Sikh historian Jaswant Singh, honouring his lifelong commitment to preserving and disseminating Sikh heritage. Singh, a widely respected figure within the Panth, died on April 20, 2026, in Chandigarh following a prolonged illness.

A Life Dedicated to Sikh Heritage

As the Chairman of the Shiromani Shaheed Baba Jivan Singh Educational and Welfare Trust, Jaswant Singh focused his scholarly work on the life and legacy of Baba Jivan Singh Ji. His efforts extended far beyond academia; he actively distributed thousands of books on Sikh history across various states, including Jharkhand, to ensure the younger generation remained connected to their roots.

Jamshedpur Leaders Pay Tribute

During the ceremony, Manjeet Singh Gill, President of the Rangreta Mahasabha and District President of the BJP Minority Morcha, delivered a moving tribute. Highlighting Singh’s unique contribution to the community. Gill described the late historian as an “irreplaceable gem” whose absence leaves a significant void in the intellectual leadership of the community.
