Jamshedpur: Parking arrangements under the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) will undergo a transition starting this May. However, city residents can breathe easy as officials confirmed that parking charges will remain at current rates despite the appointment of a new management agency.
Consistent Fee Structure for Commuters
JNAC authorities emphasized that the fee structure for both two-wheelers and four-wheelers will not see an increase. The current rates are as follows:
-
Two-Wheelers: ₹10 for the first two hours, with an additional ₹2 for every subsequent hour.
-
Four-Wheelers: ₹20 for the initial two hours, followed by a ₹5 charge for every extra hour.
Auction Scheduled for Eight Prime Locations
To streamline operations, the civic body will hold an open auction for eight major parking sites on May 9. The bidding process will commence at 4:00 PM at the JNAC office. The auction covers eight high-traffic zones in the city’s commercial heart:
-
Sakchi: Five parking locations.
-
Bistupur: Three parking locations.
Contract Terms and Eligibility
The JNAC will award the management contract for a one-year period to the highest bidder. In addition to the bid amount, the winning agency must pay an additional 2% as Tax Collected at Source (TCS).
To ensure professional management, JNAC has set specific turnover criteria for each site. Tender forms are priced between ₹5,000 and ₹10,000, depending on the location’s size and traffic volume. By maintaining the existing price points, authorities aim to improve operational efficiency while ensuring affordability for daily commuters in Jamshedpur’s busiest hubs.
