Jamshedpur: In a late-night operation on Sunday, Jamshedpur police, acting on a tip-off, successfully uncovered an illegal mini-liquor factory located in Jawahar Nagar under the Mango Thana area.
Despite no arrests made during the raid, law enforcement officials seized a substantial quantity of evidence, including numerous cartons filled with liquor bottles, containers of spirits, labels, corks, and various equipment used in the liquor manufacturing process. The unauthorised liquor factory was operating within a double-storeyed building on Road No 17 in the densely-populated Jawahar Nagar.
The raid was conducted following specific information received by City SP Rishabh Garg, who directed the Mango Thana to investigate the reported illegal liquor factory. Vinay Kumar, the Mango Thana Officer in Charge, stated that the authorities seized 100 cartons of liquor along with other materials and equipment associated with the liquor manufacturing process. The focus now shifts to identifying and apprehending those involved in the illicit liquor trade in Jawahar Nagar area.
OC Kumar revealed that the confiscated liquor bottles bore stickers representing popular brands of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL). The production seemed strategically timed to coincide with the upcoming Durga Puja celebrations, indicating a potentially lucrative market for the illegal trade. Authorities suspect that the spurious liquor may have been intended for smuggling into Bihar, where the sale of liquor is prohibited.
To assess the potential harm posed by the seized liquor, the police are preparing to send samples to a government laboratory in Ranchi for chemical examination. This step aims to determine the quality of the confiscated stock, ensuring public safety by uncovering any health hazards associated with the illicitly produced alcohol.
The investigation is underway.
