Jamshepur Police send eight Hindu leaders to jail in follow up to Kadma violence, Saryu dubs action ‘unilateral’

Jamshedpur, April 11: On Tuesday, April 11, the Jamshedpur police, in continuance of its action following the incidences of communal violence in Shastrinagar under Kadma PS on Saturday-Sunday, arrested eight Hindu organizations’ leaders and presenting them in Jamshedpur Court, sent them to jail. The eight persons arrested belong to two Hindu organizations, Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal and they include Chandan Chaturvedi, Anirudh Giri, Chandan Das, Bhola Lohar, Bhim Yadav, Kanhaiya Pandey, Shankar Rao and Rajesh Choubey.

According to information, the eight persons arrested were picked up from different localities of Jamshedpur and taken to Sakchi PS. Later, they were presented in the Jamshedpur Court from where they were sent directly to jail.

On receipt of the information, Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Roy rushed to Sakchi PS but he was asked to go to Jamshedpur Court. Accordingly, the MLA met the eight persons there. Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Roy came down heavily on the Jamshedpur police and accused them of targeting and arresting Hindu leaders ever since the communal confrontations in Shastrinagar. He said, “The police are treading the path of appeasement. They are taking unilateral decisions that are definitely condemnable.”
