Jamshedpur’s Neha Tantubai triumphs in 17th Jharkhand State Elite Boxing C’ships

113 pugilists from 15 districts compete in two-day event

Jamshedpur, November 20: Tata Steel UISL, in collaboration with the Jharkhand Boxing Association, inaugurated the 17th Jharkhand State Elite (Men & Women) Boxing Championships 2024-25 at the JRD Tata Sports Complex on November 20. The two-day championship will conclude on November 21, 2024, featuring the state’s most promising boxing talent.

Ritu Raj Sinha, Managing Director, Tata Steel UISL, attended the event as the Chief Guest, joined by Anand Bihari Dubey, Secretary, Jharkhand Boxing Association; Mukul Vinayak Chaudhuri, Chief Sports, Tata Steel; Deepak Shrivastava, Vice President, Jharkhand Boxing Association and Head of Administration, OMQ; and Rajiv Verma, Treasurer, Jharkhand Boxing Association.

This year’s championship includes two categories Men and Women with a total of 113 participants from 15 districts in Jharkhand. The Men’s category received 71 entries, while 42 entries were received for the Women’s category. The first day saw intense competition, with pre-quarterfinal and quarterfinal bouts conducted across 55 matches.

Notably, one final bout was held today, where Neha Tantubai from East Singhbhum triumphed over Krishna Kumari from Dhanbad, clinching the title in her category. The remaining finals will be conducted on November 21, 2024, promising more electrifying performances.

Speaking on the occasion, Ritu Raj Sinha shared, “Tata Steel UISL has always been a supporter of sports. This championship not only provides a platform for athletes to excel but also inspires the youth to embrace the spirit of sportsmanship and discipline. We are proud to partner with the Jharkhand Boxing Association for this esteemed event.”
