Jamshedpur, Nov 20: The 24th Jharkhand Senior State Basketball Championship (Men-Women) will be held at the Dhatkidih Center Ground from November 22-24. The event is being organized by the East Singhbhum District Basketball Association, with 26 teams from across the state participating—15 men’s teams and 11 women’s teams.
Harbhajan Singh, President of the East Singhbhum District Basketball Association, shared the details during a press conference at the Dhatkidih Community Center on Tuesday. The tournament will be inaugurated by Jiren Topno, Head, Tribal Identity, Tata Steel Foundation, on November 22. The final match will be played under floodlights at 6 pm on November 24.
Secretary of the District Basketball Association, Pradeep Mukherjee, announced that matches will take place in two sessions each day. The first session will be held from 6:30 am to 1:30 pm, while the matches in second session will be played from 4 pm to 10 pm.
The championship will also serve as the selection process for the Jharkhand men’s and women’s teams, which will compete in the Senior National Basketball Championship in Bhavnagar, Gujarat, starting January 5. Coaches Md Nizam and Md Wasim, as well as referee Vijay “Merinda,” were also present at the press conference.
