Jamshedpur: Aiming to pass down the glorious traditions of the Sikh panth, its martial art heritage, and the teachings of the Guru Sahibs to the younger generation, a 23-member delegation from Jamshedpur’s largest and most prestigious Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Gatka group departed from Tatanagar Railway Station on Wednesday. The group is traveling to Nanded to visit the holy Takht Sachkhand Sri Hazur Sahib. The local community gave the delegation a warm send-off filled with immense devotion, enthusiasm, and resounding chants of “Bole So Nihal… Sat Sri Akal.”
Continuing an annual tradition, organizers scheduled this religious pilgrimage during the summer vacations. This timing allows children and youth to connect spiritually with Sikh history, Gurmat traditions, seva (selfless service), simran (meditation), and the traditional martial art of Gatka. The 8-day pilgrimage will continue until June 2.
Praising the Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Gatka group on the occasion, Jaswant Singh Jassu, General Secretary of the Mango Gurdwara Management Committee, emphasized that connecting children with the history of the Gurus, the Sikh code of conduct, and religious traditions is crucial in today’s modern era.
“This is not just a journey,” Jassu stated. “It is a holy endeavour to connect with the feet of the Guru Sahibs, assimilate their teachings, and guide the upcoming generation onto the path of righteousness, service, and discipline. The dedication with which the Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Gatka group has been teaching children Gatka, Gurbani, and Sikh history for years is an inspiration to the entire community.”
Jaswant Singh Jassu further added, “The pilgrimage to Hazur Sahib will strengthen spiritual energy, courage, the spirit of service, and dedication to the community within these children. The teachings of the Guru Sahibs convey the message of humanity, brotherhood, and sacrifice, and it is the duty of all of us to pass this on to the new generation.”
The religious delegation includes Jaswant Singh Jassu, Harpreet Singh, Gagandeep Singh, Lovepreet Singh, Maninder Singh, Jagdeep Singh, Rishi Singh, Raj Singh, Taranveer Singh, Gurwinder Singh, Raunak Singh, Manpreet Singh, Taranpreet Kaur, Harsimran Kaur, Harpreet Kaur, Simran, Anshu Kaur, alongside other children and members of the Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Gatka group.
