Jamshedpur, June 3: The 1st All India National Ranking Junior Tennis Championship ‘United Club AITA Championship Series 2019’ began at the clay court of United Club on Monday, June 3 in presence of Avneesh Gupta, President, the United Club and vice president, Shared Services, Tata Steel along with other dignitaries.
Local lad Aditya Kumar entered the pre quarter finals of the ongoing United Club AITA Championship Series 2019, been held at the clay courts of the United Club and Beldih Club. The championship, organized for the age group of Boys & Girls Under-16 will witness the finals on Friday, the 7th of June 2019.
Aditya Kumar, ranked at 1622 in the country, got the better of his State-mate Anshul Agarwal by a straight 6-2, 6-3 in the opening match of the day. Kumar, having already secured 8 national ranking points will meet Raghav Singhal of Bengal, seeded 7 in the draw in the pre quarter finals tomorrow.
The top 4 seeds in the Girls Singles Under-16 category, Simran Neha Ekka (OD), Shireen Ahamed (WB), Aditi Pradhan (JH) and Oindrila Sen (WB) respectively will be fighting for the winning trophy and 25 valuable national ranking points in the next couple of days.
Boys from Odisha refused to falter as both Yashraj Nayak and Steven Ankit Ekka surpassed their first round opponents, Dhruv Nischal Adari and Aashish Vegi from Andhra Pradesh also entered the pre quarter finals.
The event is being organized under the banner of �All India Tennis Association (AITA�) and Jharkhand Tennis Association (JTA) from June 1-7. The qualifying rounds were played on June 1 and 2, 2019, while the main draw started June 3.
The matches will start from 7:00 am on June 4.
