
West Bokaro, June 3: With the �World Environment Day� around the corner, Tata Steel�s West Bokaro Division flagged off the month-long Sustainability month celebrations on Monday.
On the occasion, sustainability flag hoisting was done at all departments of the division including coal beneficiation, Engineering Services, Quarry SE, Quarry AB, Tata Steel Rural Development Society and Tata Central Hospital, West Bokaro.
The launch marked the beginning of a month-long series of activities that the Division has lined up for sustainability including celebrating World Environment Day, photography competition, video making competition, etc. On the occasion, employees of the division took pledge to reaffirm their commitment to sustainability. Besides the employees, the Division also intends to include other citizens, especially school children, in its effort to spread awareness about conservation of environment.
An innovative initiative namely �Plants for Plastic� has also been launched on the occasion where the residents of West Bokaro can get saplings on giving plastics at the nursery in JRD Tata Park, West Bokaro. While, the collection of plastics has started from today till June 20, the saplings distribution will be from June 20 till June 30, 2019.
It is worth mentioning here that every year, Tata Group including Tata Steel celebrates the month of June as �Sustainability Month� to provide a platform to assist employees to connect, adopt and act on sustainability as individuals and collectively to see the change they can bring about in themselves, their businesses and in society.
