State-Level Rapid and Blitz Chess Competition Concludes at Sarala Birla University, Ranchi
Jamshedpur, Jan 5: The state-level Rapid and Blitz Chess Competition, organized under the aegis of Sarala Birla University, Ranchi, concluded today after three days of intense gameplay. A total of eight rounds were played in both the Rapid and Blitz categories.
Abhishek Das from East Singhbhum emerged as the winner in both categories, taking home a cash prize of ₹10,000 in the Rapid category and ₹5,000 in the Blitz category.
In the Rapid category, Ankit Kumar Singh from Bokaro secured second place, while Vibhas Kumar Sinha from Ranchi finished third. Manish Sharma and Rajesh Kumar, both from West Singhbhum, earned the fourth and fifth positions with a score of 6.5 points.
In the Blitz competition, Debanjan Sinha from East Singhbhum took second place, followed by Abhas from Hazaribagh in third. Rohit and Debanjan Sasmal, both from East Singhbhum, secured the fourth and fifth positions.
The prize distribution ceremony was graced by Vijay Kumar Singh, President of the Hazaribagh District Chess Association, as the chief guest. Manoj Kumar, President of Saraikela Kharsawan, along with State Chess Association Secretary Manish Kumar, Treasurer Satish Kumar, and the chief judge of the event, Deepak Kumar, were also present. The ceremony was conducted by Shubhangi Verma.
The event was a grand success, highlighting the growing interest and talent in the sport of chess across the state.
